At Basque Automation and Larraioz Group, we firmly believe that sustainability is built not only through technology, innovation, and processes, but above all through people.

As part of our ongoing commitment to social responsibility and equal opportunities, this year we accepted a very special challenge: to create our Christmas postcard in collaboration with Nahiarte, a creative space that supports artists with intellectual disabilities by providing training, guidance, and a platform to express their talent through art.

From the very first contact, the response from Nahiarte and its artists was enthusiastic and wholehearted. What began as a simple idea soon became a shared project that has enriched everyone involved, both professionally and personally.

A Christmas Card with Purpose

Within the framework of the Larraioz Group Christmas Challenge 2025–26, and as part of the actions included in the Basque Automation / Larraioz Group Sustainability Plan, we set ourselves a clear objective: to design a Christmas card that would go beyond a traditional seasonal greeting and help recover the genuine spirit of these special dates—regardless of the language we usually use to communicate.

Thanks to the creativity and commitment of the Nahiarte artists, we successfully produced 300 personalized Christmas postcards, each one reflecting inclusion, authenticity, and artistic expression. The final design was created by Daniel Esteves, an artist from Nahiarte with an intellectual disability, with valuable contributions from several other artists throughout the creative process.

For the entire Larraioz Group team, it has been a true privilege to share this journey and to see how art can become a powerful bridge between people, realities, and experiences.

Art as a Tool for Inclusion and Equal Opportunities

This initiative forms part of the broader actions of our Sustainability Plan, which this year also incorporates the Equal Opportunities Plan for All People. The purpose is clear: to help create real professional opportunities for people with intellectual or psychological disabilities within the fields of art, creativity, and the cultural and creative industries.

Nahiarte was founded in 2013 by Ana Urgoiti Guisasola and Cristina Bacete Díaz, who strongly believe that people with disabilities can develop professional skills through art and, if they wish, access creative employment. Inspired by international references such as the Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland and Die Schlumper in Hamburg, Nahiarte is committed to art as a pathway for expression, empowerment, and social inclusion.

Meeting the Artists Behind the Project

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Daniel Esteves, accompanied by fellow Nahiarte artists Sonia and Leire, along with Ana Urgoiti, one of the project coordinators. During their visit, they personally delivered the Christmas postcards, each of which includes two QR codes that will soon provide extended information about the project, the artists, and the creative process behind the design.

The visit also offered the artists the opportunity to tour our facilities and see first-hand how our industrial automation solutions work, including a live demonstration of a robot in operation. To conclude the day, the artists and the Larraioz Group team shared a joint lunch, creating a relaxed and meaningful space for conversation, learning, and mutual understanding.

A Simple Initiative with a Lasting Impact

This was a simple initiative, yet profoundly meaningful for everyone involved. Experiences like this remind us that sustainability, creativity, and inclusion are deeply interconnected, and that supporting diversity helps build a society where being different, authentic, and unique is not only accepted, but truly valued.

We would like to sincerely thank Nahiarte, its artists, and everyone who contributed to making this project possible. Together, we continue working to create opportunities, foster inclusion, and build a more sustainable and human-centered future.
